Fred Bendongué has been an artist and choreographer since 1987, and was the first French choreographer to receive the prestigious Bessie Award (1996). He was invited as a soloist at Ballet Roland Petit, and his versatility spans dance and movement styles and traditions including hip hop, capoeira and the Congolese rumba. To Bendongué, dance is a place of integration and emancipation.
