Marigny Opera House Announces Choreographers Selected for the Marigny Opera House New Dance Festival
(NEW ORLEANS, LA – ) Four New Orleans-based choreographers have been selected to premiere a total of three new works the Marigny Opera House New Dance Festival 2016: Will Byram, Maritza Mercado-Narcisse and the team of Angelle Hebert and Shannon Stewart. The new works by Byram, Mercado-Narcisse and Hebert/Stewart will be presented at the Marigny Opera House during the weekend of June 10th-12th, 2016.
The four were selected by a dance panel that included Neil Barclay (Executive Director, CAC); Parisa Khobdeh (Dancer, Paul Taylor’s American Modern Dance), and Chris Waddington (Journalist).
The Marigny Opera House Dance Festival began in 2012; this will be the third to be held. The purpose of the Festival is to encourage the artistic development of local choreographers and enable new creative work. The Marigny Opera House is a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization dedicated to supporting the performing artists of New Orleans.
