This internship is geared to students of dance, music, theater, and visual arts currently majoring in arts education and preparing to teach K-12. Interns work side-by-side with the master instructors of Upturn Arts. We provide arts training for up to 50 New Orleans youth ages 3-12. Fifty percent of our attendees are awarded full or partial scholarships.

Interns provide classroom support for the faculty, gaining valuable hands-on experience, and participate in daily staff evaluation and planning meetings. Each intern will also attend our teaching methodology course “The Art of Teaching.” All interns receive opportunities to teach classes and collaborate with the faculty to create a finale performance – focusing on each session’s theme. Applicants must document some experience working with youth, an ability to work as part of a team, and good organizational and verbal skills. Interns must be available for one full session (2 weeks) . Interns are scheduled between 8am-5:30pm. Interns will be expected to work 5-6 hours per day.

Weekly sessions are as follows: JUNE 13- 24 JUNE 27- JULY 8 (NO CAMP JULY 4) JULY 11- JULY 22 JULY 25 – AUG 5 ONE WEEK SESSION: AUG. 8- AUG. 12 Upturn Arts is located at 1719 Toledano St., just one block off of St. Charles Ave and is easily accessible to public transportation.
