See 'Em On Stage: A Production Company and Delgado Community College (DCC Theater) will present The Wiz, written by Charlie Smalls and William F. Brown based on the novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. The production will take place from March 9-March 25, 2018 at The Timothy K. Baker Theatre. Auditions will be in the upstairs Drama Hall. Every role in this show is open. Nothing has been pre-cast. We are looking for a diverse and talented group of men and women (ages 16 and over). There are many roles that require strong singing abilitites and some roles that require strong dance abilities (as well as singing). Some roles do not require dance. The auditions will take place on Saturday, November 18 from 4:00-6:30pm and on Monday, November 20 from 6:30-9:00pm. This is an open call, so actors can show up at any time during those time periods to sign up for a slot. Actors must prepare at least one song that best reflects their vocal ability. The song can be a pop, broadway, or R&B-style song, but please bring sheet music. Actors can also prepare a song from the show. Ainsley Matich (music director) will accompany on keyboard. Actors may be asked to read from the script. There will not be a dance requirement at this audition. Auditioners may be asked to attend a future dance callback. Paid honorariums will be given for actors playing the roles of Dorothy, Scarecrow, Lion, Tin Man, Glinda, Aunt Em, Good Witch of the North, Wicked Witch of the West, and The Wizard. Featured enemble and ensemble roles will be unpaid. The production will reunite the creative team behind LIZZIE, the Big Easy Award winner for Best Musical 2016. Ainsley Matich will music direct, Clayton Shelvin will choreograph, Sara Bandurian will costume design, and Christopher Bentivegna will direct.
