Guest artist, Yanina Orellana will be joining us from Guadalajara Mexico for a special dance workshop January 15th! She is currently enrolled in the certification for Therapists and Educators in Somatic Movement through EastWest Somatics Institute Mexico with Ashley Meeder. The Shin Somatics method includes: bodywork, somatic movement therapy and somatic yoga. Class Description: A contemporary dance class inspired by release based-movement taught through a somatic approach. The objectives of the class include: increasing body awareness, accessing the emotional body for artistic expression and sharing a learning experience in community. The somatic approach emphasizes living in the body as a whole and through the experience of movement. A space of creativity and inquiry is facilitated through guided improvisations and embodied anatomy. As a group, we find unity in moving and learning together. Multi-level class. For dancers, actors, or anyone interested in movement practices. Bio: Yanina Orellana is a movement artist originally from Guadalajara, México.
